4th seeded Spaniard David Ferrer booked a place in the third round of the 2012 Paris Masters with an easy 6-1 6-3 win over fellow countryman Marcel Granollers.
Ferrer, who won the Valencia Open last week by defeating Dolgopolov in the final, broke Granollers five times on his way to victory. The Spaniard, whose best performance here in Paris is a QF, will take on Stanislas Wawrinka next.
Also through to next round is no.8 seed Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia, who defeated Dutch qualifier Igor Sijsling 6-4 7-6 (0) in 1 hour and 48 minutes. With this win, Tipsarevic kept his ATP World Tour Finals hope alive. He would need to reach the final here in Paris to automatically qualify for the London showdown.
Next up for Tipsarevic will be 9th seeded Argentine Juan Monaco, who eliminated Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov 7-6 (4) 6-2.
