Serena Williams put on a clinic today in Arthur Ashe Stadium, defeating Andrea Hlavackova 6-0, 6-0 to reach the quarterfinals.  The 2011 US Open runner-up has yet to drop a set in the tournament and absolutely dominated her opponent tonight.

Hlavackova simply did not have enough to compete with the veteran American.  Williams was in control from the start and never looked back.  Combining a crushing serve with a powerful return game, her opponent did not get a chance to hold serve the entire match.  Dictating the ground strokes and denying Hlavackova the chance to gain any momentum, the match was over in just 57 minutes.

Williams has gone through the tournament widely unchallenged thus far.  Along with Azarenka, she appears to be in strong contention for the title.  The American gold medalist will play Ana Ivanovic in the quarterfinals.
