Chinese Li Na won her 6th career title after defeating Angelique Kerber in Sunday’s final at the Cincinnati Open. Li came back from a set down on her way to victory against the German, winning 1-6  6-3  6-1.

Kerber started the match flawlessly, and not only did she cruise through the first set, she took a 3-1 lead in the second. However, the Chinese, who lost against Kvitova in last week’s Montrel final, staged a huge comeback and stormed to a superb win.

This title comes as a big confidence boost for Li, who made it to three finals this year, but lost all of them. After her breakthrough at last year’s French Open, she finally managed to bag herself another big title and will be going into the US Open as one of the favourites.

Kerber overcame Petra Kvitova in the semis in three sets while Li ousted Venus Williams to book her final spot in Cincy.
