Petra Kvitova confirms her good form in third round of 2012 US Open as she dismisses Pauline Parmentier in straight sets. Her next challenger will be Marion Bartoli.

Fifth seed Czech Kvitova has been invincible for the last few weeks and has extended her unbeaten run with a third round US Open victory against world no. 90 Parmentier. It was a competitive match even though the French player never seriously endangered Kvitova’s triumph at the Grandstand stadium. Recent Montreal and New Haven champion had a significantly higher percentage of first serves in, and was also statistically better at winning both serve and return points.

The first set was level until 2-2 when Kvitova produced a break and never looked back. Two-time WTA title holder Parmentier was not outclassed by her opponent, but was never in a position to break back. The second set was the same story. Left-handed Czech broke Parmentier early on and maintained her advantage throughout the set. Kvitova thus served for the match at 5-4 and capped off her yet another convincing performance with a game to love. She progressed to round of sixteen with a 6-4, 6-4 win.

Her next hurdle to clear is eleventh-seeded Bartoli who was successful against her young compatriot Kristina Mladenovic with 6-2, 6-4.
