World no. 1 Roger Federer breezed by Aussie teenager Bernard Tomic in his 3rd round match on Thursday.  The Swiss maestro recently turned 31 and is showing little sign of slowing down.  Dropping just 13 points on his serve, he scored the win at 6-2 6-4 in just over an hour in front of the center court crown at the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati.Never threatened on his serve, Federer broke Tomic’s twice in the first set and one final time in the second set and is looking in form as the event reaches its final stages.  His QF opponent will be American Mardy Fish.  30 year old Fish scored his first win in 5 tries against Radek Stepanek in the 3rd round but faces a tall order against Federer who is looking for his 5th win in Cincinnati.

If Federer makes it past the QF round, there is a chance he will play his compatriot and Olympic double partner Stanislas Wawrinka in the SFs.  Wawrinka scored the surprise upset straight-set victory over David Ferrer in the 2nd round, then defeated Kei Nishikori in the 3rd round.  He will play Canadian Milos Raonic in the QFs.
