Phau ended Lukas Rosol’s run as he eliminated him in two tiebreaks, winning 7-6 (3) 7-6 (2). The Czech dropped to 103 in the rankings, despite defeating Spaniard Nadal a couple of weeks ago at the Wimbledon Championships.
From the other second round matches: Spaniard Guillermo Garcia-Lopez dismissed fellow Pablo Andujar 6-1 4-6 6-1 and German wild card holder Dustin Brown booked his place in the last 8 after overcoming Benoit Paire of France 7-6 (4) 4-6 6-1.
