Despite leaving her opponent literally squealing behind the baseline, and delivering a record-smashing 24 aces during their two-set match, Serena claimed afterwards “I thought I didn’t serve that well…I didn’t think that my percentages were up there.” It seems as though the 45 winners that she landed during the game simply weren’t up to her standards although the crowd and spectators certainly believed she was back on top form – “I didn’t think that my percentages were up there….Maybe I didn’t play the same match that people saw.”
After dispatching the world number 2 Belarussian, Williams will have a couple of days to rest and recuperate before she faces Agnieszka Radwanska during the finals , where she is the firm favourite to win and claim her fifth Wimbledon singles title.
