Serena Williams showed the tennis world how much of a force of nature she is today with a brutal destruction of opponent Victoria Azarenka in their semi-final clash. However “slamming” her way around the court was not enough for the former world number 1 as she believed she didn’t play all that well.

Despite leaving her opponent literally squealing behind the baseline, and delivering a record-smashing 24 aces during their two-set match, Serena claimed afterwards “I thought I didn’t serve that well…I didn’t think that my percentages were up there.” It seems as though the 45 winners that she landed during the game simply weren’t up to her standards although the crowd and spectators certainly believed she was back on top form – “I didn’t think that my percentages were up there….Maybe I didn’t play the same match that people saw.”

After dispatching the world number 2 Belarussian, Williams will have a couple of days to rest and recuperate before she faces Agnieszka Radwanska during the finals , where she is the firm favourite to win and claim her fifth Wimbledon singles title. She is more than aware of just how difficult the Pole is to play against, particularly her “unbelievable hands” and ability “to chase down every ball.”

If Williams does take the trophy it will be her 14th Grand Slam title, a feat unsurpassed by any other female player in the current crop. All signs certainly indicate that Williams will be the likely victor, particularly since Radwanska is still suffering with a heavy cold a weakness that the all-powerful US tennis star will take full advantage of during this exciting finals match
