Argentine Juan Monaco will play German Tommy Haas in the final of the German Tennis Championships in Hamburg.

3rd seed Monaco came back from a set down against last year’s finalist Nicolas Almagro of Spain, booking his place in Sunday’s final with a 3-6  6-3  6-4 victory.

The Argentine has also reached the final in Stuttgart last week, where he lost to Serb Janko Tipsarevic. It has been a very successfull season for Monaco so far, he will be bidding to win his third ATP title of 2012.

World no.49 Haas is eyeing to win his second title of the year after defeating Croat Marin Cilic 7-6 (7)  6-0 in today’s semifinal.

After a very tight first set that could have gone either way, Haas took full control and dominated the court to sail to a superb win.

The German, who dropped out of 200 in the rankings due to lenghty injuries, claimed a spectacular Halle 2012 final victory over the Swiss Federer, but then went out in the first round of Wimbledon against fellow countryman Philipp Kohlschreiber.

Monaco will be going into the match against Haas with a 3-1 head to head record, having won their last meeting at the US Open 2011.
