ATP Finals 2012 Live Commentary: Novak Djokovic vs Roger Federer ATP Finals 2012 Live
Federer vs Djokovic: Game, set, match Federer. 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3

Fourth set:

6-3 Federer shows nerves of steel to recover from a nervous moment at 30-30 and a line challenge to take the match and keep his dream of 7 Wimbledon titles alive. He’ll play the winner of the next match that you may have heard something about – Murray v Tsonga is next up on Centre. Follow it all with us here!

5-3 Unforced error from Djok for 30-30, but Federer nets for 40-30. Djok goes long though for deuce, before gaining the advantage with a backhand down the line and he follows up to force Fed to serve it out

5-2 Fed holds to love, and Novak has to be disappointed not to have at least made an impression there. The defending champion is serving to stay in the match

4-2 0-40 at one point in this game, but the Serbian holds his nerve to stay in the match. Turning point maybe?

4-1 Easy hold for Federer. Provided he holds serve, Djokovic has only two more chances to break back and he needs to make more of an impact than that

3-1 Fed gets deuce from a challenged line call, but Djok swings things back his way with a strong serve and then Fed going wide. Goes without saying, but that was an important hold for Djok

3-0 Federer consolidates his early break by holding to 15. It seems strange to say Federer and upset in the same sentence, but are we on the verge of one here?

2-0 0-40 with a netcord from Djok. Djok saves one with a forehand down the tramline. But Djok goes wide on the next shot, Federer with the initiative in the fourth

1-0 Roger holds after a minor scare at 30-30, but 2 nice serves stave off the threat

Third set:

Set to Federer 6-4 Two set points for Federer as Djok flunks a smash long at 15-30. Djok saves the first one with a forhand down the line, but Fed smashes the winner at 30-40

5-4 First break point for Djok in the set, but Federer saves it and holds with three straight top serves

4-4 Federer with a more comfortable hold, taking it to 15

3-4 Djok saves two break points to hold – some amazing rallies in this game, but Fed will see that as another missed chance. Let’s see how he responds

3-2 Still on serve, Fed leads 3-2. Business end of the set approaching at what could be a crucial juncture

2-2 Djokovic wins to 15 for 2-2 in the third as Federer nets a a backhand

2-1 Still on serve as Roger holds again. Important for him to win that one and shake that last game out of his mind

1-1 Fed had a break point in this game but missed it with a wild forehand. Deuce exchange follows, but Djokovic holds. Missed opportunity for Federer there

1-0 Federer with a good opening service game in the third. An hour on the match clock, nicely poised now.

Second set:

Set to Djokovic 3-6 He closes the second set 6-3 in 30 minutes, appropriately closing it with an ace

3-5 Always make your opponent serve it out – Federer does just that by holding to love with an emphatic ace

What do you make of the match so far? Let us know in the comments forum at the bottom of the page.

2-5 A couple of relatively lax shots from Fed in this game, taking the pace off and allowing the ball to sit up a bit. The world number one needs no invitation to bury them, and he holds to 15

2-4 Djok putting in some good returns but Fed holds serve to 30 to stay in the race for the second set

1-4 Easy hold for Novak there to love with an ace

1-3 Great couple of returns from Djok to recover from 40-15 to deuce, but Fed aces and then a well-placed second serve closes out the game

0-3 Djokovic finding some momentum here for the first time today. Holds serve to love

0-2 First chinks in Fed’s armour combined with Djok upping the ante here as he breaks to 15

0-1 Djok holds to 30, but a couple of nice touches from a relaxed looking Federer to open the second set

First set:

Set to Federer 6-3. Never in doubt. 2 consecutive aces to start, Djok goes long at 30-0, and Fed finishes off with a forehand down the line to take the opening set in 24 minutes

5-3 Djok forces the Swiss to serve out for the set with a love service game

5-2 Comfortable hold from Fed and all of a sudden there is a 3 game gulf

4-2 Fed takes the first break of the match from another Djok slip at 30-30 and then he nets on break point

3-2 Djokovic starting to get his eye in with some groundstrokes, but Fed holds to 15

2-2 Djokovic holds again, still early the players are sizing each other up at the moment

2-1 Fed holds again to 15, with Djokovic casting some accusing glances to the hallowed lawns during that game

1-1 Anything you can do…. Djok returns the favour with a comfortable hold.

1-0 Fed out of the blocks fast winning his serve to 15. Bit of a statement there from the Swiss.

Key stats:

  • Head-to-head: Federer 14-12 Djokovic
  • But Djokovic has won 6 of last 7, including last 3

Live commentary of the Wimbledon 2012 semifinal Novak Djokovic Vs Roger Federer will start here during the match warm up..

This will be the first grass court encounter between these two players and there is a lot at stake. Should Federer win his 7th Wimbledon title this year, he will regain the world no.1 spot once again, equalling and surely improving Pete Sampras’ record of 286 weeks at the top. Djokovic won their last meeting that took place in the semifinal of the French Open 2012, but the Swiss has still got the edge in their head to head record, leading 14-12.
