The two best players in the tennis world – Novak Djokovic and Maria Sharapova – have embarked on a new campaign with the innovative tennis equipment brand HEAD, incorporating an exciting competition and plenty of social media activities for fans to get involved with.
Playing with her brand new YouTek™ IG Instinct MP racquet, which the top seed describe as feeling almost too good to play with, Sharapova became just the tenth woman in history to complete a career Slam when she defeated Sara Errani 6-3, 6-2 in the 2012 Roland Garros. Climbing back to the top of the rankings following a toughly-fought season, Sharapova once again cemented her number one spot in the world with the addition of the French Open trophy to her collection, giving her wins at all four of the major Grand Slam championships – Roland Garros, US Open, Wimbledon and the Australian Open.
Djokovic wasn’t as successful as Sharapova in his finals match at Roland Garros this past weekend, losing to new rival Rafael Nadal. The loss hasn’t done much to damage his career, however, as he is still residing at the top of the ATP’s rankings for men’s singles players. Throughout the tournament and since Djokovic has been using the new YouTek™ IG Speed MP racquet.
In celebration of its two sponsored players retaining and reclaiming their number 1 rankings, the new campaign launched by HEAD will also show their support of the top male and female players in the country. Fans can stay up to date with the campaign by visiting the brand’s social media pages – facebook.com/headtennis and twitter.com/head_tennis – with a competition to win signed racquets from Sharapova and Djokovic themselves currently running on the Twitter page. Following her victory at the French Open, there’s also a short interview with the new Women’s Champion on the brand’s YouTube page, which can also be seen below.
