It was great to interview Marin Cilic at The Boodles pre Wimbledon exhibition event last week, and the Steve G Tennis team came away with the feeling that Cilic is about to make the final leap up the rankings to the very top of the men’s game. It’s interesting to look at Marin’s end of year ranking over the last few years:

  • 2007 – 71
  • 2008 – 22
  • 2009 – 14
  • 2010 – 14
  • 2011 -  21

At 23 years of age, Cilic has been a steady top performer for 5 years (current ranking 18), and now has the maturity and experience go to the next level. Having won Queens last week, and now The Boodles exhibition event, the all important momentum and confidence factors that are essential for any Wimbledon charge will be high.

In the interview, Cilic talks about how he has been practising with Ivanisavic over recent weeks, and there’s not many better men to practice with if you’re looking for some Wimbledon inspiration.

Good luck Marin.
