Two German players managed to booked their places in the quarterfinals of the Gerry Weber Open in Halle.

In the first match of the day, defending champion Philipp Kohlschreiber came back from a set down against Poland’s Lukasz Kubot, winning 6-7 (5)  6-1  6-3.

Kohlschreiber, who defeated Philipp Petzschner in last year’s final, set up a last 8 encounter against the winner of the match between the 7 times Roland Garros champion Nadal and Lukas Lacko of Slovakia.

Tommy Haas joined his countryman in the quarters by beating Spaniard Marcel Granollers in straight sets 6-3  6-4.

Haas, who got awarded a Wimbledon wild card this year, will battle out the semifinal spot against the no.3 seed Berdych of Czech Republic, who eliminated Serbia’s Troicki in yesterday’s second round match.
