After yesterday’s easy match, Ferrer was pushed to dig deeper today as he needed three sets to overcome Frenchman Benoit Paire, winning 7-6 (5) 3-6 6-1.
For the Spaniard, this will be the fourth ATP final of 2012, and he will have a chance to win this event for the second time (after his victory in 2008).
Petzschner booked his place in the final after defeating Xavier Malisse of Belgium 7-5 7-5.
The German had a disastrous season so far. Coming into this tournament, he lost the last seven matches he played. But whatever the result in tomorrow’s final, this week should surely give him some confidence that he can build on.
