Serbia became the first finalist of the World Team Cup in Dusseldorf after defeating defending champions Germany.

World no.8 Janko Tipsarevic secured the crucial second point as he beat German Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-4  3-6  7-5.  In yesterday’s match, Serbian Viktor Troicki proved too strong for Florian Mayer, beating him in straight sets 7-6 (6)  6-3.

In the other Blue Group match between Russia and Croatia, the doubles encounter will have to decide the outcome of the tie.

Croatian Ivan Dodig overcame Russia’s Igor Kunitsyn 7-6 (0)  6-4 before Alex Bogomolov Jr. kept Russia’s hopes alive by beating Lovro Zovko 6-4  6-2.
