Argentina beats USA at the Team World Cup, Czechs also win

Argentina and Czech Republic both won their Red Group matches at the Team World Cup in Dusseldorf.

Argentina posted a 3-0 victory over United States. Carlos Berlocq secured the first point in yesterday’s match against Andy Roddick, winning 6-2  6-2.

All was decided after the second singles encounter, when Argentine Leonardo Mayer overcame American Ryan Harrison 6-4  5-7  6-3. Berlocq/Chela then went on beating American duo Blake/Harrison 7-6(2) 6-4.

Czech Republic came back from being down 0-1 against Japan, when Tatsuma Ito suprisingly defeated Radek Stepanek 3-6  6-4  6-4.

The Madrid Masters finalist Tomas Berdych levelled the match as he beat Japan’s Go Soeda 6-1  3-6  6-1. In the deciding doubles, Cermak/Stepanek clinched the victory for the Czechs after dismissing Ito/Soeda 6-2  7-6 (4).
