Almagro to face Simon in Nice semis

Defending champion Nicolas Almagro will play against the Frenchman Gilles Simon for the final spot at the Nice Open.

Spanish 3rd seed Almagro overcame Belgian Steve Darcis in straight sets 6-4  6-4 and no.2 seed Gilles Simon of France eliminated Brazilian qualifier Thomaz Bellucci 7-5  6-0 to book his place in the semifinals.

Simon, who won the title at this year’s Bucharest Open, did not face a single break point as he sailed to victory in 1 hour and 32 minutes.

In the other semifinal, American qualifier Brian Baker will meet Russia’s Nikolay Davydenko.
