Nicolas Almagro ended Brian Baker’s dream run at this year’s Nice Open, beating him 6-3  6-2 in today’s final and retaining his last year’s trophy.

This is the 12th ATP Tour victory for the world no.14 Spaniard, who hasn’t lost a single set throughout this year’s tournament.

He managed to break the American qualifier Baker twice in each of the sets and sailed to victory in just 70 minutes.

It was a first ATP Tour final for world no.216 Baker, who suffered from various injuries in the past, before returning to competitive tennis in July 2011.

“He (Baker) lost the final today, but he is back, he is playing very good. I think if he plays as he did this week, then he will win many, many tournaments.” said Almagro after the match.
