The American 5th seed Donald Young went out in the first round of the Grand Prix Hassan II in Casablanca as he got beaten by the Frenchman Benoit Paire 4-6  7-6 (5)  6-2.

Igor Andreev of Russia cruised through to round two as he defeated the Spaniard Albert Montanes 6-3  6-3. Next up for Andreev will be the fourth seed Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan.

In the other matches, Jeremy Chardy of France overcame the Argentine Federico Delbonis 6-4  7-5, Guillermo Garcia-Lopez of Spain dismissed the Italian 8th seed Fabio Fognini 6-4  3-6  7-5, the Italian Potito Starace ousted the Spanish qualifier Roberto Bautista-Agut 6-4  7-5, Matthias Bachinger of Germany moved into the next round after a victory over Filippo Volandri of Italy 6-3  3-6  6-3 and the Italian Flavio Cipolla proved to be too strong for the Moroccan qualifier Yassine Idmbarek, winning 6-1  2-6  6-1.
