World no.1 doubles pair Bob and Mike Bryan beat Julien Benneteau and Michael Llodra 6-4 6-4 7-6 (4) to give USA a 2-1 lead over France in the Davis Cup quarterfinals.
Both first and second sets were decided at the very start, when the Bryan Brothers broke their opponents and then held their serve to clinch the first two sets.
The Bryans didn’t face a single break point throughout the match and as they captured the third set tiebreak, USA are just win away from the semifinals after two days of play.
Tomorrow, world no.11 John Isner will face world no.6 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and the 19 year old Ryan Harrison will play Gilles Simon.
Czech Republic also took a 2-1 lead against Serbia after Tomas Berdych and Radek Stepanek defeated Ilija Bozoljac and Nenad Zimonjic 6-4 6-2 7-6 (4).
The Czechs are one point away to avenge their 2010 Davis Cup semifinal loss against Serbia.
Sunday matches feature Tomas Berdych against Janko Tipsarevic and Radek Stepanek vs Viktor Troicki.
