Simon looked in control of the match from the beginning of the first set, breaking his opponent twice and taking a 5-4 lead. But he only managed to serve it out after the next change of ends.
Bachinger didn’t show too much resistance in set 2 and it was the top seed Simon who sailed to a comfortable win after 1 hour and 47 minutes.
In Sunday’s final, Simon will play Italy’s Fabio Fognini, who overcame the surprise of the tournament, Hungarian Atilla Balazs in straight sets 6-3 6-1.
Balazs got to the semis all the way from the qualifying round, beating second seed and defending champion Florian Mayer on the way.
