Simon into Bucharest QFs, Fognini beats Baghdatis

First seed Gilles Simon of France won his second round match at the Nastase Tiriac Tennis Trophy in Bucharest as he defeated Dudi Sela of Israel 6-4  6-2.

The two times Bucharest champion Simon (2007, 2008) will next play Polish 7th seed Lukasz Kubot, who beat Romanian wild card holder Marius Copil 6-3  6-3.

Italy’s Fabio Fognini upset the 5th seed Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus after he eliminated him in straight sets 7-5  7-6 (4).

Fognini will next face Italy’s Andreas Seppi, who dismissed German Cedric-Marcel Stebe 6-2  6-3.
