World no.2 Rafael Nadal of Spain is aiming to lift his seventh trophy at the Barcelona Open this year.

And he has got just one step closer after he improved his match record at this tournament to 31-1 as he beat the Colombian qualifier Robert Farah 6-2  6-3.

Nadal’s next opponent in the quarterfinals will be the 5th seed Serbian Janko Tipsarevic, who defeated Portuguese Frederico Gil in straight sets 6-2  6-2.

Also through to the last 8 is Japan’s Kei Nishikori after dismissing the Spaniard Albert Ramos 7-6 (2)  6-3 and he will meet the 9th seed Fernando Verdasco of Spain next, who won his third round match against Kevin Anderson of South Africa 6-4  6-4.
