It was a one-sided match between the defending champion Rafael Nadal and Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia as the world no.2 destroyed his opponent 6-2  6-2 in just 1 hour and 23 minutes and booked a place in the Barcelona Open semifinals.

Nadal took control of the match from the very beginning as he broke Tipsarevic in the opening game. He dominated the baseline rallies and with a lot of confidence captured the first set.

Tipsarevic showed a glint of hope in set 2 after he managed to break Nadal back to level the score at 2-2, but Rafa didn’t seem to be too disturbed as he stormed to a four consecutive games win to sail to victory.

Canadian Milos Raonic upset the second seed Brit Andy Murray after beating him 6-4  7-6 (3) to make it to the Saturday semis.

Murray struggled with Raonic’s serve in the first set, winning only four points. After the 11th seed Canadian went up a break to take a 4-3 lead, he held his serve to take the set.

Raonic broke Murray in the 9th game of the second set to take a 5-4 lead and give himself a chance to serve it out. Althought the Brit fought his way back to force a tiebreak, Raonic dominated it and sealed the match.
