No.3 seed Feliciano Lopez of Spain won his second round match against Italy’s Paolo Lorenzi 6-4 7-6 (4) and moved into the quarterfinals of the U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championships in Houston.
Lorenzi started the match with a lot of confidence, taking a 4-1 lead, but world no.15 Lopez came storming back and took the next five games to close out the set.
This is a debut for the Spaniard in Houston, he had never played here before. His serve proved to be too strong for Lorenzi, and after winning the second set in a tiebreak, the match was over in one hour and 56 minutes.
Carlos Berlocq got through to the next round after beating the German Bjorn Phau 6-1 6-0 and will play Lopez in the quarterfinals.
