Novak Djokovic defended his Miami Masters title as he beat his friend and world no.4 Andy Murray 6-1 7-6 (4) in Sunday’s final.
Despite the scoreline, it was a very hard fought match that lasted 2 hours and 17 minutes and the Serbian world no.1 played his best tennis in the whole tournament.
Djokovic got ahead in the first set as he managed to break Murray in the 4th game to go 3-1 up. The Brit had a break back chance in the very next game, but couldn’t convert it and it was the Serbian who broke his opponent once again before sealing the first set 6-1.
Both players produced some stunning tennis with many long rallies and it was Djokovic again who had two break points in the 3rd game of the second set. But the Scot averted them and took a 2-1 lead. The defending champion kept on asking the questions and he pushed Murray to the wall a couple more times, but couldn’t convert his break point opportunities he had in the 5th and 11th games. As he held his own serves with confidence, the second set was to be decided in a tiebreak. Djokovic put on a strong display and two mini breaks were good enough for him to capture the Miami Title for the third time.
Djokovic’s previous two victories at the Sony Ericsson Open came in 2007 and 2011.
The Serbian defeated Juan Monaco in the semis with a scoreline 6-0 7-6 (5) and Andy Murray got a walkover as world no.2 Nadal pulled out of their match due to an injury.

Novak is like a machine and will dominate Tennis for the next 4-5 year. Poor Murray though, so close yet so far.
