Djokovic has struggled with his serve in the first set, Haase breaking him in the very opening game. Although the Serbian managed to take his opponent’s serve twice and was a break ahead, Haase got back on track and levelled the set at 4-4. It was the Dutchman again who had a break point opportunity to go 5-4 up, but couldn’t convert. After Haase dropped his serve in the following game, Djokovic got a 1-0 set lead.
The second set started a lot better for the world no.1 and he raced to a 4-0 lead. From then onwards, both players dropped their serves twice and that gave Djokovic a 6-2 set and match win.
Djokovic will play the Czech 6th seed Tomas Berdych in Saturday’s semifinals.
Berdych put on a very strong performance on his way to a victory over world no.4 Andy Murray as he defeated him in three sets 6-7 (4) 6-2 6-3.
The Czech had many chances to win the first set, but Murray did well to save four set points and eventually clinched the set in a tiebreak.
Nevertheless, Berdych kept on putting pressure on Murray and dominated the second set with some massive groundstrokes. It paid off as he broke the Brit twice to level the match at 1 set all.
As Murray couldn’t find a way to stop the big hitting Czech in the deciding set, Berdych booked his place in the semis with a clinch of a fist.
