No.1 seed Novak Djokovic of Serbia won his second round match at the Monte Carlo Rolex Masters as he defeated Italy´s Andreas Seppi 6-1  6-4 in 1 hour and 27 minutes.

The Serbian, who had a first round bye, eased through the first by taking his opponent´s serve twice.

Seppi put up a bigger fight in set 2, but world no.1 Djokovic seemed to be in control and one break of serve did the trick as he sealed to victory.

In round 3, Djokovic will face Ukrainian Alexandr Dolgopolov, who eliminated Bernard Tomic of Australia 6-2  5-7  6-1 .

Also through to the third round is the Frenchman Gilles Simon, who beat the Portuguese qualifier Frederico Gil in straight sets 6-3  6-0.

Simon´s next opponent will be the 7th seed Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia, who dismissed the Spaniard Albert Montanes 6-2  6-3.
