The biggest upset of today’s Grand Prix Hassan II in Casablanca was Jeremy Chardy of France beating the no.1 seed Florian Mayer of Germany in straight sets 6-3  6-1.

The German got off to a 3-1 lead, but this wasn’t the same Mayer who beat world no.2 Nadal at last year’s Shanghai Masters, and after losing 11 out of the following 12 games, Chardy was the one to move into the last eight.

In the quarterfinals, Chardy will play the Spaniard Albert Ramos, who dismissed Romanian Victor Hanescu 6-2  6-4.
