The 9th seed Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia moved into the third round of the Miami Tennis Masters as he defeated the Argentine David Nalbandian 7-5  6-3.

This was their second meeting within two weeks. Last week it was Nalbandian who beat the Serbian in three sets in round three of the Indian Wells Masters.

Next up for Tipsarevic will be Alexandr Dolgopolov of Ukraine, who beat Antonio Veic of Croatia 6-4  7-5.

Also through to round 3 is the 25th seed Czech Radek Stepanek, who ousted the German Tommy Haas 7-6 (4)  6-1.

Stepanek will play the winner of the match between the no.2 seed and last year’s finalist Nadal and Santiago Giraldo of Colombia.

The 19th seed Florian Mayer of Germany won his second round match against Ivan Dodig of Croatia in straight sets 6-4  7-5.
