Ferrer is now on a 18-1 win loss record this year, having only lost to Djokovic in the 2012 Australian Open quarterfinals.
Top seeded Ferrer ruled in the final and didn´t allow Verdasco much. This was his 2nd consecutive tournament win, having won in Buenos Aires the last week.
Verdasco, who beat Stanislas Wawrinka 6-3 6-3 to reach the final, wasn´t very happy with his performance against Ferrer.
“I am extremely disappointed I wasn’t able to have the fight I was expecting to have, I just couldn’t keep the ball in the court today. It’s always tough to lose a final, but losing it that way hurts a lot more.” said Verdasco after the match.
Ferrer reached the final, defeating Santiago Giraldo of Colombia in straight sets 7-5 6-4.
