No.5 seed David Ferrer stormed to a comfortable 6-2  6-2 victory over Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria in the second round of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells.

The Spaniard has won 3 titles this year and is a serious contender for the title win here as well. Ferrer will now play Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan in round three, who defeated Juan Ignacio Chela of Argentina in three long sets 7-6 (5)  6-7 (7)  7-5.

Thomaz Bellucci of Brazil played a solid match as he defeated the 2012 Memphis winner Jurgen Melzer of Austria 6-3  6-3.

Bellucci’s next opponent will be Nikolay Davydenko of Russia, who dismissed the German lucky loser Bjorn Phau 7-5  6-2.
