Mikhail Youzhny of Russia won the Zagreb Indoors title when beating Slovak’s Lukas Lacko 6-2 6-3 in the final.

The Russian proved to be just a bit too strong for Lacko, who has had quite a good year so far. He qualified for the Australian Open and reached the third round, where he lost against the later finalist Rafa Nadal.

This was Youzhny’s 8th title in his career, first since 2010 when he was victorious in St.Petersburg.

The Slovak served very well in the first set, but could quite follow up with the groundstrokes. Youzhny broke him twice and wrapped up the set. It was a very similar story in the second set and there was never really any doubt who would come out of this match on top.

Youzhny dismissed Michael Berrer of Germany in the semis, beating him 6-4 6-3. Lacko overcame Marcos Baghdatis 7-5 7-6 (3).
