Tomas Berdych of Czech Republic captured the 7th career title with a 6-2  4-6  6-3 win over Gael Monfils in the Open Sud de France final in Montpellier.

The match lasted just over two hours and both players produced some high quality tennis.

Monfils was the defending champion, but this time it was Berdych who had a reason for celebration at the end. After breaking the Frenchman’s serve in the eighth game of the third set, he held his serve in the following to seal the match.

For Berdych, this was the first indoor title since his win at the 2005 BNP Paribas Masters.

For a place in the final, Berdych dismissed Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany 6-3  6-4 and Monfils saved a match point on his way to victory over the Gilles Simon, winning 4-6  7-6 (4)  6-4.
