The Bryan Brothers have been denied their 12th Grand Slam title as they lost to Leander Paes and Radek Stepanek in the 2012 Australian Open final 7-6 (1)  6-2.

Had Mike Bryan and Bob Bryan won the final, they would have overtaken Mark Woodforde and Todd Woodbridge, who have 11 major titles as well.

It came as a surprise as this Grand Slam was for the Bryan Brothers the most popular one, having on 4 previous occassions here.

Paes and Stepanek teamed up for the fourth time only, they hadn’t played together for almost six years. They were supposed to play together in 2005 but Stepanek called it off as he wanted to concentrate on his singles game.

Well, six years later the dream came true..
