The Finn Jarkko Nieminen won his second ATP title as he defeated the French Julien Benneteau 6-2 7-5 in the Sydney International Final.

It was very impressive win as Nieminen had to come through the qualification. He had a positive 4-0 head to head against Benneteau before the match and the Frenchman is still to win an ATP title.

Nieminen won his first title in 2006 in Auckland. This second tournament win should boost his confidence going into next weeks Australian Open, where he will face former Wimbledon finalist David Nalbandian.
