Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Horia Tecau captured the 2012 Australian Open mixed doubles title as they beat the Russian-Indian duo, Elena Vesnina and Leander Paes, in a three tough sets 6-3, 5-7, 10-3.

The American-Romanian duo got off to a stronger start, breaking their opponents serve twice in the first set, sealing it 6-3.

In the second set, the favourites Paes/Vesnina came back from a 2-4 down and managed to take it to level a match at one set all.

So the faith of the match had to be decided in a tiebreak. Mattek-Sands and Tecau regained their focus again and took a quick 3-0 lead. After the great start they never let their opponents back into it and winning 10-3 captured the title.
