World no.2 Petra Kvitova booked her spot in the semifinals at the Sydney International with a win over Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia 6-0 6-4.

She will now play against the former Frech Open winner Li Na, who defeated Lucie Safarova of Czech Republic with a scoreline of 6-2 7-6 (3).

Kvitova could capture the world no.1 ranking this week and overtake Wozniacki. But she needs to win the title here.

Caroline Wozniacki lost her match against Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland 3-6 7-5 6-2. The Dane was serving for the match at 6-3 5-4 up, but Radwanska won three successive games to level the match at 1 set all. Wozniacki suffered a minor injury to her wrist during the third set and despite finishing the match, she could only win two games in the decider.

In the fourth quarterfinal, Victoria Azarenka dismissed Marion Bartoli 7-5 6-4 and will face Radwanska in the semis.
