World no.2 and reigning Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova dismissed former world no.1 Ana Ivanovic in the last 16 of the 2012 Australian Open in straight sets 6-2 7-6 (7-2).

After taking the first set comfortably 6-2, Kvitova had to work harder in the second set. She lost her serve when serving for the match at 5-4 but once in the tiebreak, she held nerve came out on top.

Kvitova will now play Sara Errani of Italy, who defeated China’s Zheng Jie 6-2 6-1.
