Kuznetsova and Zvonareva clinch 2012 Australian Open title

The unseeded Russian duo Svetlana Kuznetsova and Vera Zvonareva  won the 2012 Australian Open doubles title as they defeated Roberta Vinci and Sara Errani 5-7 6-4 6-3.

This is their first title as a pair, although they both won Grand Slam titles before, but with different partners.

Kuznetsova and Zvonareva, both ranked no.2 in singles in the past, are trying to concentrate more on singles than doubles.

“We focus on singles. Sometimes I go to a Grand Slam, for example, and I don’t know if I’m going to play or not in doubles,” said Kuznetsova, a two-time Grand Slam singles champion.

But it paid off for them to register for this year’s tournament and who knows, this might only be start to more titles in the near future.
