Victoria Azarenka will play the first Grand Slam final of her career as she beat the defending champion Kim Clijsters 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 in the Australian Open semis.

She will also have a chance to become world no.1 should she win the final.

After taking the first set 6-4, the Belarussian Azarenka got the shorter hand in the second as Clisters stormed through to take it 6-1.

There were quite a few breaks in the third set and Azarenka was the one to keep her mental strenght till the end and converting the match point she sank to her knees in delight.

She will either play Maria Sharapova or Petra Kvitova in the final. The also both have the chance to become world no.1 in case they should win this tournament.
