Zvonareva, Kanepi move into Kremlin Cup QFs

Top seed Vera Zvonareva of Russia reached the Moscow quarterfinals after overpowering Bojana Jovanovski of Serbia 6-1, 6-1.

In a much tougher match Estonian Kaia Kanepi battled to win a three set match against fourt seed Francesca Schiavone 6-4, 5-7, 7-6 (7).

Kanepi was close to going out as she was trailing 5-1 in the final set tie-break. But she managed to come back and despite Schiavone saving two matchpoints, the Estonian converted her third one to win the match.

Dominika Cibulkova (SVK) – Polona Hercog (SLO) – 6-3, 7-6 (3)

Elena Vesnina (RUS) – Alla Kudryavtseva (RUS) – 6-0, 6-1
