Caroline Wozniacki has lost her quarterfinal match at the China Open against Flavia Pennetta of Italy 6-3, 0-6, 6-7 (2). The Italian, who has lost all of their previous five meetings, has dominated the second set and managed to seal the match with a one sided third set tie-break.

Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland made her way to the semifinal after leading against Ana Ivanovic 6-3, 3-2, who had to retire due to back injury. The former world number has been struggling with back problems since beginning of last week in Tokyo.

In the other semis, the Romanian qualifiefr Monica Niculescu will meet Andrea Petkovic of Germany. Niculescu defeated Maria Kirilenko of Russia 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 and the German Petkovic eliminated Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia 6-2, 7-6 (2).
