Stosur and Bartoli into Japan Open SFs

US Open champion Samantha Stosur moved into the Japan Open semifinals as she overcame Chanelle Scheepers of South Africa 6-2, 6-3.

The Australian Stosur will now face either Petra Cetkovska or Jie Zheng.

In the other quarterfinal, the second seed Marion Bartoli of France comfortably beat Ayumi Morita of Japan 6-2, 6-1.

Bartoli’s next opponent will be the German Angelique Kerber, who eliminated the defending champion Tamarine Tanasugarn 6-3, 6-4.
