Gael Monfils of France had to fight hard for his quarterfinal spot at the Stockholm Open. The 18 year old Australian Bernard Tomic took him to three long sets with the Frenchman clinching the match 6-4, 6-7 (4), 6-4.

Tomic had his chances as he was up a break in the third set and couldn’t convert any of the break points to go two breaks up. He paid for it dearly as Monfils fought his way back and set up a quarterfinals encounter with Kevin Anderson of South Africa.
