Eight seed Christina McHale of the United States lost her first round match at the Japan Open against the defending champion Tamarine Tanasugarn of Thailand.

World no.11 Marion Bartoli of Italy is through to the second round after beating Melinda Czink of Hungary 6-2, 6-2.

Mathilde Johansson (FRA) – Irina Falconi (USA) – 6-3, 6-2

    Savannah, your cicohes are spot on. But more than that, so is your reasoning. You know I can’t stand Carlos, but you make a good argument for his inclusion here.Djoke’s coach is very intense and calm at the same time. Not so easy to pull off.
