Top seeded players Oliver Marach and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi made the most out of the partnership debut at the Thailand Open as they beat Germans Michael Kohlmann and Alexander Waske 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5).

For the Austrian Marach, it was the 10th ATP World Tour title, the third of the season, having previously won in Buenos Aires and Hamburg.

“Of course I’m very, very happy to win another title, especially with Aisam because he’s a very nice guy,” said Marach ater the match. “We’d seen their last two matches and they were playing very good. We knew they were serving great and we had to return well. It was two tie-breaks, so very close. But I’m happy that I played very well today; I returned especially very well. I hope we can play together again and win another one.”

Qureshi will partner up with his full-time doubles partner Rohan Bopanna for the next weeks tournament in Tokyo, where they will be top seeds. For the Pakistani, this was the third career title.
