Feliciano Lopez of Spain eliminated the Serbian Janko Tipsarevic in the first round of the Shanghai Rolex Masters, beating him 7-6, (2), 7-6 (3).

This is a blow for the Serbian, who still had a chance to qualify for the Barclays ATP Tour Finals in London this year.

Tipsarevic was on fire just over a week ago, having won his first title ever at the Malaysian Open in Kuala Lumpur, but then he lost in the first round of the Japan Open against Dmitry Tursunov or Russia.

In other matches, Albert Ramos defeated last week’s Beijing finalist Marin Cilic of Croatia 6-3, 6-4, Alexandr Dolgopolov dismissed Poland’s Lukasz Kubot 6-4, 7-6 (6), American Ryan Harrison beat Viktor Troicki of Serbia in straight sets 6-3, 6-3 and Kei Nishikori overcame Robin Haase of Netherlands in a very tight match 0-6, 7-5, 7-6 (5).
