Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova of Czech Republic defeated former world no.1 Jelena Jankovic of Serbia 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 to reach the final of Generali Ladies Linz tennis tournament.
The match saw some high quality tennis from both sides with entertaining rallies and some great shots from both players. Both Kvitova and Jankovic received wild cards from the organisers.
In the other semifinal, Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia beat Lucie Safarova of Czech Republic 6-1, 6-4 to set up the final encounter against Kvitova.
“I played more aggressively today from the first point until the end,” said Cibulkova after the match. “I am happy with my form at the end of the year.”
This will be the first WTA final for Cibulkova in the las three years. Kvitova has got a 3-0 head-to-head record against the Slovak.
