German Angelique Kerber got through to the Japan Open quarterfinals as she defeated Olga Govortsova of Belarusia 6-1, 6-3.

Kerber will now meet the defending champion Tamarine Tanasugarn of Thailand in the quarters.

Petra Cetkovska of Czech Republic secured herself the quarterfinal spot by beating the qualifier Eirka Sema of Japan 6-0, 6-3.

Next for Cetkovska will be Zheng Jie of China.

    I just can’t force mlyesf to watch women’s tennis much this year…..just boring. I love Venus and Serena but please, can someone give them some hard competition to make life interesting?
