Great Britain won the Junior Davis Cup after defeating Italy in the Final in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. This was their first ever win at the Davis Cup. They reached the final in 2009 but were second best to Australia.
Evan Hoyt, Kyle Edmund and Luke Bambridge were top seed and they had been playing according to that throughout the whole tournament.
Coached by Greg Rusedski, they beat both Thailand and Germany 3-0 and Canada 2-1 in their group matches. In the semifinals, they were victorious against France 3-0 and clinched the title beating Italy.
Rusedski said: “I’m very proud of our team. It feels great to be the first British team ever to win the Junior Davis Cup.”
